Ampersand Café Launch

After many months and a few delays, we are excited to announce the Ampersand Café is finally open! The Ampersand Café is a social enterprise located in the heart of Halifax, at the Halifax Central Library. Ampersand has a commitment to our local community which is honoured through the use of locally sourced products and our promotion of local goods whenever possible.

The café has a commitment to supporting local business and that’s why it features treats from award-winning Delectable Desserts and Schoolhouse Gluten-Free Gourmet. The coffee is an original blend from Nova Coffee, and customers can also try authentic Turkish coffee from Roasted Coffee. Stone Hearth Bakery curated the menu and continues to produce the food daily. As the summer progresses the Ampersand will start to sell produce from Common Roots Urban Farms and other local growers.

Come to the first or fifth floor of the Halifax Central Library to support a café focused on social progress and try some of our staples including a delicious cup of aromatic coffee, a fresh, flaky pastry or a mouthwatering sandwich. Follow us on Instagram and Facebook to keep up with the latest happenings in the café.

Rainbow Bagel Campaign

Stone Hearth Bakery collaborates with Dreadlocks & Kindness for the second year with the Rainbow Bagel Campaign to support The Youth Project and Rainbow Refugee Association of Nova Scotia. The bagels are handmade from our original dough recipe and baked in house. The rainbow bagels are available for purchase throughout Halifax Regional Municipality, like Pete’s Frootique, Fine Dining, Ampersand Café, and more!

When you purchase a six pack of rainbow bagels, you support local LGBTQIA2+ charities. A bag of six bagels costs $5.00 and with every purchase, $0.75 is donated to the Nova Scotia Youth Project and $0.75 to the Nova Scotia Rainbow Refugee Association.

In 2021 the campaign saw great success, with 4200 bagels sold. This year we hope to sell even more. Purchase a package of rainbow bagels throughout the summer and support some amazing local charities and don’t forget to share them with us by tagging @stonehearth_bakery on Instagram, @stonehearthbkry on Twitter, and @stonehearthbakery on Facebook!
