Our Story
Since our founding in 1977, MetroWorks has helped thousands of people overcome obstacles to achieve their employment and educational goals. Our diverse programs empower individuals facing employment barriers by equipping them with both work and life skills. We make sure you find success on your journey to sustainable employment.
To support our participants goals, and to sustain our operations, we operate several social enterprises. We are proud pioneers in Nova Scotia’s economic and social development, and are committed to reinvesting our resources back into our community.
Your Impact
You might have already experienced our diverse ventures without realizing it. You might have already made a positive impact on your community. When you choose to purchase from Stone Hearth Bakery, The Ampersand Café, and Common Roots Urban Farm, you are not only enjoying local, quality products and services, but also strengthening your own community. Many of our employment programs have training and job shadowing opportunities in these social enterprises, plus the money you spend on these projects goes right back into supporting these important initiatives. Go you!

This shared purpose and understanding are the building blocks of strong working relationships and drive us toward achieving our core mission as an organization.
